Today I'm proud of...MY HUSBAND

Well, I didn’t get back on here as soon as I had hoped after my original post. In any case, in honor of our anniversary, today I'm writing about my husband. :-)

On Friday we celebrated 6 years of marriage and just over 10 years of being together.

So we all know I could go on for days, but let me touch on just a few reasons why I'm so very proud and in love with this guy.
Um, he knows how to fix pretty much everything. The most recent example of this is buying a car and replacing the seats, convertible top, and convertible lift cylinders. (I'll take an "after" picture tomorrow and update!)

In Process
He’s also re-wired something in almost every room in our house, I’m pretty sure…including installing (quick mention of my daddy-o here for the assist) 220 outlets for our dual-fuel stove and electric dryer. He also rigged the old satellite wiring to install an outdoor HD antenna. Thanks to that, Hulu, and TV.com, we no longer have cable.

He takes care of ants, bugs, spiders, etc. I don’t need to say anything else about that. :-)
He researches like a boss. Maybe it’s the engineer in him, but I know if we are making a big purchase or a big decision that we are getting the best product, for the best value.

Hi, and he just spent his vacation time this Christmas to move my family of 8 people and all of their stuff (there was A. LOT.). We could never have done it without him!
Celebratory Dinner at BJ's
He's frugal, and we have had a $2 date night at Jack in the Box. However, he is not afraid to splurge! Like when he surprised me with a shmancy dinner for our anniversary! There was a view, a fire pit, sangria, a steak set on fire, and the best food I've had in a while. Perfect.

Some other tidbits I love:
  • Adding a category to our monthly budget just for helping/treating friends.
  • Tithing and giving with a generous and grateful heart.
  • Being slow to speak and slow to anger. I wish some of that would rub off on me!
  • Mowing the yard with a push mower (yes, they still make those ones without motors).
  • Holding me when I’m upset…even if he doesn’t understand why.
  • Being calm and steady in the face of…well, everything.
  • Getting out of bed to put air in my tires before I leave for work, when he could have slept in.
  • Bringing me breakfast in bed, on a workday.
He moved to California with me, so I could go to graduate school. In the process, he drove a 26-foot U-Haul across the country…with a trailer behind it.

He builds me stuff. Like pull out drawers for our pantry. Like installing closet organizers.

I'm so proud of how successful he has been at work. In just 4 short years, he went from field engineer to continuous improvement manager. He earns respect and acknowledgement from everyone he works with. Not to mention, he's just one class away from completing his master's degree!
But really, more than all of that, any of that... I’m so very proud of his faith and trust in God. I am so privileged to have seen the growth in this man over our 10+ years together and 6 years of marriage. He is truly an inspiration and a loving, wonderful example of what a Godly husband looks like. I have seen him grow into a man who daily spends time in prayer. He prays for the needs and requests of family and friends, for our future, for those dear to us who don’t know Jesus as well as for those who haven’t been hanging out with Him lately. We’ve already seen answered prayers. Our friends who have been yearning to add to their family had a child placed with them for adoption. Our pastor is making huge strides in his fight against leukemia. I’m sure there are more.
Babe, you are my best friend, and I love you so very much. Thank you for encouraging me in everything I do. Thank you for loving me more than I could have ever imagined.
Happy 6 years!
